The Fight Against Aging
Aging: Everyone is in search for ways to LOOK YOUNGER AND FEEL BETTER!
The Fountain of Youth has long been sought after. What are some of the recent healthy aging products or tips that will help in getting older with grace? Before we dive into that, first lets look at the process.
Resveratrol - Can It Make You Look Younger?
From a chronilogical perspective...it's going to happen no matter what...we can't stop time...but we can slow down the process from a biological point of view. New science is proving this.
The body is made up of trillions of cells. It is the attack on our cells that cause us to age. (we won't mention not eating right or not getting exercise). Other determining factors include:
Muscle mass and strength loss
Metabolic rate slows down
Breathing capacity decreases
Fatty deposits build up on our blood vessels
Nutrient absorption decreases
Our lifestyle diet and physical activity are key in how slow or fast these factors will cause us to age. All this starts about at age 20!!
Can Aging Be Treated?
As research continues, genes that have an effect in the process are being discovered. The process is increasingly being regarded in the same way as other geneticly influenced diseases, potentially "treatable."
Cellular Health - The Key To Slowing Down The Process Oxygen (Common sense - enough said)
Cells are the basic building blocks of life. As long as our cells are healthy, we will be healthy. There are five things necessary to keep our cells in optimal health:
Nutrients (a constant supply - meaning don't starve yourself. Carbohydrates and minerals especially important)
Water (you have heard of drink plenty of water daily)
Proper Temperature (Cells use oxygen to burn or metabolize carbohyrdrates to create heat and energy needed to sustain life. If the cells get too hot or cold, they will die)
Disposal system (Life and death of cells is a continuous process. The dead cells must be carried away so the healthy cells won't suffocate. Water is essential to this process.)
This was proven by Dr. Alexis Carrel back in the 1930's. He led a group of scientists who used an embryonic chicken and placed a piece of its heart tissue in a flask. They provided the five things mentioned above. They kept the piece of chicken heart growing for MORE THAN 30 YEARS! After 34 years, it showed no signs of deterioration, so they stopped caring for it and it died. Their conclusion was that cells could live forever provided maintenance of the proper conditions.
Inflammation is at the root of the breakdown of our bodies. Experts agree it is responsible for hundreds of diseases. And we know that chronic inflammation leads not only to age-related diseases but accelerats it as well!
ATTACK Of The Free Radicals!
Unfortunately for humans, we don't live in ideal conditions. Besides the basic five, we are also exposed to other conditions such as the environment, pollution and stress among others things. Even oxygen produces a hazard called free radicals.
Free radicals are molecules or electrons in our body that are out of balance - in other words missing a partner. Most of these are created as a byproduct of the metabolic process when the body burns oxygen to create heat or energy. Just like the process of a car rusting over time, our bodies "rust" as the free radicals burn or damage healthy tissue.
The most common effect of this people recognize are wrinkles. Although other factors play a role, free radicals are being linked to many, many other diseases including cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and Alzheimer's to name a few.
To fight this, the most common treatment women turn to is anti-aging cream. One such product that our staff has had great success with is TrueScience. It was formulated to fight your aging battles from the outside in. With cutting-edge science battling externally and the ingredients in Protandim proven to protect your cells internally, TrueScience is the complete anti-aging solution that gives your skin a beautiful, even tone, diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and provides a vibrant, glowing appearance.
Free Radical Scavengers
Of course the body has its defenses agains free radicals. These are called anitoxidants. Antioxidants are molecules that will scavenge free radicals and prevent them from damaging cells. Unfortunately, as we get older, our bodies stop producing the enyzmes that produce the antioxidant.
However, we can get them from external sources found in food. Common known antioxidants include Vitamin C, Vitamin A and Vitamin E. Minerals such as zinc and selenium are also known to be very important.
Although the best way to provide your body with an abundant supply of antioxidants is through the food you eat, supplements are now providing many of the antioxidants we need. Even help the body produce it naturally.
